Group Types and Options

Group Types

Static Group

A Static Group allows you to manually add recipients and desktop either by:

  • Bulk uploading a file directly into the group.
  • Manually selecting and adding existing recipients and desktops from the database.

Once recipients and desktops are added to a Static Group, they will remain in the group until they are manually removed or the recipient or desktops is deleted from RedFlag.

Dynamic Group

A Dynamic Group automatically adds recipients and desktops based on predefined criteria using profile data within RedFlag.

  • Recipients and desktops who meet the group’s criteria will automatically be added.
  • If a recipient’s or desktop's profile changes and they no longer meet the criteria, they will be automatically removed from the group.

Geofencing Group

A Geofencing Group is created using a virtual geographic boundary defined by GPS coordinates.

  • Recipients and desktops with fixed addresses, as well as mobile or desktop devices located within the defined boundary, will automatically be added to the group.
  • Additionally, recipients and desktops that belong to other groups with location coordinates assigned — and whose coordinates fall within the defined boundary — will also be automatically added to the Geofencing Group.

Global Group

Global Groups are system-generated groups created by the RedFlag platform.

  • The All Recipients global group contains all recipients in the database and cannot be modified.
  • The All Desktops global group contains all desktops in the database and cannot be modified.
Recipients and desktops cannot be manually removed from Global Groups.

AD Group

AD Groups are synced directly from Azure Active Directory (AD).

  • Recipients are imported into RedFlag if they are members of a synced AD group.
  • These groups update automatically based on changes in Azure AD.

Updating Group Type

Once a Static, Dynamic, or Geofence group has been saved, its type cannot be changed. To use a different group type, you must create a new group with the desired type.

Group Options

Self-Subscribe

The Self-Subscribe option allows recipients to voluntarily join a group through the Recipient App to receive group messages.

  • Self-Subscribe is only available for Static Groups.
  • The Recipient App must be enabled for the location in order to use this option.

Auto CC

The Auto CC option ensures that a group is automatically included in every message sent from RedFlag.

  • Only Super Admins (or higher) can enable or disable Auto CC for a group.
  • Super Admins can also remove an Auto CC group from a specific message before sending, if necessary.

Protected

The Protected option prevents any changes from being made to a group.

  • Only Super Admins (or higher) can protect a group or make changes to a protected group.

Add Location Coordinates

The Add Location Coordinates option allows you to pin the group’s latitude and longitude coordinates on the map.

  • This helps associate the group’s location for easier Geofencing management and Threat Intelligence monitoring.
