Edit Desktop Profile

Overview

When you navigate to Desktops, you'll see a list of all desktop devices in your RedFlag database. To view or edit a specific device, click on its row to open the desktop profile.

Profile

The desktop profile includes the following sections:

Profile Information

This section displays all enabled data fields for desktops.

Field indicators:

  • * Required fields must be completed to save the profile.
  • Grayed out fields are read-only and cannot be edited.


Standard Information

Includes core identity fields for the desktop:

  • Device Name: The unique identifier for the device. Once the desktop app is installed and activated, this field becomes read-only and cannot be changed.
  • Display Name: An optional, internal name for the device—helpful if the Device Name is not intuitive.
  • First Name, Last Name, and Unique ID: These will display if enabled for your location.


Address Information

Displays any enabled address fields, including:

  • Address1, Address2
  • City, State, Zip, Country


Other Information

Displays any additional data fields that have been enabled for your location.

Examples include:

  • Job Title
  • Location
  • Region
  • Shift

Desktop Information

This section is read-only and provides technical details automatically passed from the desktop device:

  • Status: Displays whether the desktop is Online, Offline, or Not Installed.
  • Coordinates: Shows whether location coordinates are enabled for the device. If enabled: 
    • Shows the last known location of the device on a map.
    • Includes the timestamp of the last location update.
  • OS Type: Indicates whether the device is running on Windows or Mac.
  • Version: Displays the current version of the RedFlag Desktop App installed on the device.
  • Device ID: A unique, system-captured identifier used in addition to the device name.

Group Assignments

  • Static Groups: You can view and manually add or remove the desktop from static groups directly within the profile.
  • Dynamic & Geofencing Groups: These groups are view-only under the profile. Desktops are automatically added based on matching profile criteria and cannot be manually edited from the profile.

🛡️ Note: Group assignment updates may take up to 30 minutes to appear on the Group List page or the Desktop List page.

Audit Trail

  • Added On: Indicates when and how the desktop was added (e.g., App Installer, or username).
  • Last Updated: Reflects when and how the profile was last updated.

Data Log 

The Data Log displays the last 10 changes made to a desktop profile.

Each log entry includes:

  • Description of Update
  • Updated By
  • Updated Date

Message Log

  • Message Log lists all messages sent to the desktop, including:
    • Message name
    • Sender
    • Date sent
