Group Counts Not Updating
If you're noticing that group counts or group memberships aren't updating as expected in RedFlag, the issue may be related to expected sync timing or background processing behavior. Below are explanations and tips based on the group type you're using.
Static Groups
When Creating a Static Group
- The group count should immediately reflect the number of recipients or desktops added when the group is first created.
- If you're using bulk upload to populate the group and the count seems off:
- Check the Bulk Upload Confirmation Email to see how many records were actually inserted.
- Some rows may have failed due to formatting issues or duplicates.
When Editing an Existing Static Group
- If you're updating a group via bulk upload:
- The group count in the Groups list page will not reflect new matching profiles immediately.
- The Groups column on the Recipient or Desktop list pages may also not immediately show the new group assignment.
- The counts on both pages typically take time to refresh.
- The refresh usually occurs within 30 minutes, but if other background processes are running, it may take slightly longer.

Dynamic Groups
When Creating a Dynamic Group
- When you create and save a dynamic group, the count is calculated immediately based on the saved criteria.
- The initial count shown in the group list reflects this known criteria match and should display accurately right away.
When Adding or Updating Recipients After Group Creation
- If you're modifying existing profiles to match the dynamic group’s criteria:
- The group count in the groups list page will not reflect new matching profiles immediately.
- The groups column on the recipient or desktop list pages may also not immediately show the new group assignment.
- The counts on both pages typically take time to refresh.
- The refresh usually occurs within 30 minutes, but if other background processes are running, it may take slightly longer.

When Recipients/Desktops Are Added via Group Creation
- If the recipient or desktop was created at the same time the group was created, the group will display immediately in both:

When Existing Profiles Are Updated to Match Group Criteria
- For profiles that already existed before the group was created or edited, it may take time for the group to appear in:
- The groups column in recipient and desktop list pages
- The groups assignment under the recipient and desktop profile details page
- The counts on both pages typically take time to refresh.
- The refresh usually occurs within 30 minutes, but if other background processes are running, it may take slightly longer.

Geofence Groups
- If a recipient or desktop is added or updated and their address data falls within a geofence, the group count and assignment typically take time to refresh:
- The group count in the group list page may take time to update

🛡️ Note: As with other group types, opening the geofence group directly will give you the most current count.
Best Practices
- Be patient with group list page counts — they are updated on a timer and may lag behind real-time group membership.
- Always open the group for the most accurate and current member count.
- Check the bulk upload error report if adding via spreadsheet and the count seems off.
- Avoid re-uploading files multiple times quickly—this can cause processing conflicts or delays.
