Bulk Upload Desktop Devices

Overview
The Bulk Upload feature allows you to efficiently manage desktop devices by adding, updating, or deleting multiple desktops at once using an Excel or CSV file. This process is accessible under the Desktops navigation menu.
Each desktop is uniquely identified by the required Device Name field. Desktops can appear in your system either through installation of the RedFlag Desktop App or by being manually added.
The upload process is streamlined with automatic data field mapping, and users can save mappings for future use to speed up recurring uploads.
Supported File Formats
.xls.xlsx.csv(Comma Separated Values)
Each row should represent a single desktop record.
Available Upload Actions
You can choose from three upload actions:
Add Desktops Only
- Only desktops with a new Device Name (i.e., not currently in the system) will be added.
- Existing desktops will remain unchanged.
- Newly added desktops will show a status of Not Installed until the license key is added through the desktop app.
Add and Update Desktops
- Adds new desktops and updates any existing desktops that match by Device Name.
- Existing matched records will be updated with data from the file.
Add, Update, and Delete Desktops
- Adds and updates desktops as in Option 2.
- Also deletes desktops currently in the system that are not listed in the uploaded file.
🛡️ Note: Deleting a desktop removes the license key and disconnects the device from RedFlag. To re-establish the connection, the license key must be re-added to the desktop.
Upload Instructions
Prepare Your File
- Create a list in Excel with the desktops you wish to upload.
- Ensure each row contains data for only one desktop.
- Do not use commas if saving as a
.csvfile.
Map Your Fields
- During the upload process, each column in your file will appear on the left side of the mapping screen.
- Use the dropdowns on the right to map each column to a corresponding RedFlag data field.
- Columns can be skipped by leaving the dropdown blank.
- When ready, click Import.
Post-Upload Report & Error Handling
Once the upload is complete:
- You will receive an email report summarizing the upload status.
- If there are any issues, the email will include an Excel attachment detailing the errors per desktop record.
- Make corrections and re-upload the revised file to apply the changes.
Important Notes
- Device Name is mandatory and must be unique for each desktop.
- Leave cells blank if you do not wish to upload data for certain fields.
- Deleting a desktop removes it from the system and clears its license key.
